Loans Scam Alert - New Telephone Number Reported

It has been brought to our attention today by a small number of people who have fallen victim to the foreign call centre telephone scam that the telephone number 0161 38 10009 is now being given out by the scammers - we have made attempts to ring this number and found the number appeared to divert overseas and our caller display showed the message 'authorisation failure' ...  as with other numbers we have been made aware of, the ring tone does not sound like the usual UK tone.

Please read more detailed info below on the full scam which has been reported to us.

Unsecured Loans Scam Alert

BEWARE and DO NOT make any upfront payments for an unsecured loan offered to you via an out of the blue telephone call.

The current scam we've been notified about is an unsecured loan scam whereby innocent individuals receive a telephone call from someone claiming to be from a well known and highly respected web site.

The caller tells the individual to take a look at a web site if they have internet access and then discusses the unsecured loan further, describing the service as being a Government backed finance package which the individual has been accepted for - the caller neither represents or is a member of the site they claim to be calling about and the loan product they discuss never materialises.

The caller states that the loan will be deposited in the individuals bank account on receipt of the first installment being paid into an account via U Kash at any PayPoint terminal.

When the upfront fee has been made via the method described, the individual is told to telephone an 0203 telephone number confirming the amount has been paid and at that time, provide the transaction number.

If payment has been made following the instructions via telephone, it is usually at this point that individuals realise there is an issue as the contact number the caller provided usually rings out or the call is transferred and an engaged tone can be heard.

On very few occasions, it has been reported to us that the call was answered and that the person at the other end of the line promptly hung up.

The majority of telephone calls made are from non UK people, most reports we receive state the call is from a foreign sounding man but we have heard reports that the caller sounds first language English speaking in a very small minority of cases.

The caller sometimes requests bank account details but not always.

Loan amounts offered tend to be in the region of £4000 - £5000 but we have heard reports of as low as £500 and as high as £14,000.

To avoid any possible loan scam, DO NOT make an upfront payment to secure a loan offered over the telephone when the caller states they are from our web site - we NEVER make cold calls offering loans or any other service for that matter and the broker service we promote DO NOT request upfront fees.

DO NOT divulge your bank account or credit / debit card details or any other personal details to an unknown caller.

NEW INFORMATION - the scam appears to have changed tact during the last few hours with reports of the same type of activity taking place but instead of requesting an upfront fee via U Kash at a PayPoint terminal, individuals are now being asked for their bank account details so the scammers can withdraw money from the account information provided.

Again, DO NOT hand over any money or give out any personal or financial details to any cold callers - if you have been telephoned and told to look at our site, this will more than likely be a scam.

If you found our site via a Google search or a link on a directory or other site and you have completed an online form on this domain, rest assured, the broker is regulated by the relevant financial institutions and you may receive a telephone call to confirm the information you added on the online form however, you will NOT be asked to make any upfront fees.

If in doubt, please contact us directly using one of the methods below:

Scam Alert

Computer Repair Fix Scam Alert

BEWARE bogus unsolicited telephone calls from men and women with an Asian accent, you receive an unsolicited call, stating that he or she is a representative of Microsoft. They state that they have discovered that your computer has a dangerous virus and requires immediate attention.

The caller says that he / she can fix the virus from their offices at Microsoft whilst you are on the telephone with him / her and with your computer switched on. There is a fee which has to be paid there and then which is in the region of £200.00 and can be paid over the phone by credit / debit card.

After you have parted with the £200 the caller requests permission to ‘take over’ your computer whilst you are speaking with him / her. The bogus caller remotely accesses your computer and you can see your curser move about the screen. After about three or four minutes of doing this, the caller announces that your computer is now virus free and he terminates the telephone call.

Not only are you being scammed for money but you may also find your computer data including personal details have been retrieved.

This is a scam, do not part with your bank details, credit or debit card details or let the caller access your computer.
